Welcome to Week 2 of our January 2025 Challenges! This week, we’re setting a goal to regularly connect with someone from another generation throughout the year.
Whether you’re younger or older, regular interactions are key. While one-off connections are important, true magic happens when we make these interactions a consistent part of our lives. Ongoing connections lead to stronger bonds, learning, and support—especially for those who may be feeling isolated or alone.
Here’s how you can set yourself up for success:
1. Set a Regular Connection Goal
Decide how often you’d like to connect with someone from another generation. This could be with someone you already know or someone you’re meeting for the first time, such as a neighbour or someone from your community. Making it regular helps build lasting relationships.
Example: “This year, I’ll call my aunt every two weeks to check in, and I’ll also reach out to a neighbour who might be feeling isolated to have a coffee every month.”

2. Plan a Recurring Activity
Think about an activity you can do regularly with someone from another generation. Whether it’s a family member, friend, or someone new you meet, recurring activities deepen your connection. These activities can be as simple as a walk together, helping out with errands, or learning something new.
Example: “I’m going to visit my younger cousin every month to teach her how to bake, and in return, she’s going to teach me how to use the latest technology.”
Share your ideas and inspire others to think about ways to connect more often!
3. Take Action Now
This week, take one small step toward your regular connection goal. Reach out to someone to start your first recurring interaction—whether it’s setting up a regular coffee date, scheduling a phone call, or planning an activity together. The first step is the most important!
Example: “I’ve messaged my neighbour to meet for a walk each Saturday, and I’ve also reached out to a colleague I don’t know well to grab lunch and get to know each other.”
Let us know who you’re connecting with and what your first step is!
