March is all about raising awareness, and we’re starting by recognising the impact of intergenerational relationships in our lives and communities. By understanding their value, we can inspire more people to engage in meaningful interactions and strengthen these connections.
Activities for the Week:
✅ Spot the Connection - Take a moment to observe intergenerational interactions around you—at work, in your family, or in your community. Where do these connections already exist? Where are they missing?
Example: “I noticed a great moment at my local café where a young barista helped an older customer navigate a new ordering system. It reminded me how small acts of connection can build a more inclusive world.”
🔹 Share an example of an intergenerational connection you've observed and why it stood out to you.
✅ Intergenerational Trivia Challenge - Test your knowledge (and maybe learn something new!) by engaging in a fun quiz about different generations’ experiences—music, technology, slang, and historical events. Try it with family, friends, or colleagues!
Example: “I played a trivia game with my grandmother, and we laughed over how different our childhoods were—she had rotary phones, while I grew up with smartphones. It made me appreciate how much has changed!”
🔹 Try a trivia challenge and share a fun fact or surprising moment you discovered.
✅ Make a Social Media Awareness Post - Help spread the message! Share a fact, story, or personal reflection about the importance of intergenerational relationships. Use the hashtag #ConnectionChallenge to reach a wider audience.
Example: “Did you know that intergenerational friendships can reduce loneliness and improve mental well-being? I’ve seen this firsthand with my mentor, who has taught me so much about resilience and leadership. Let’s build more connections across generations! #ConnectionChallenge”
🔹 Post your reflection on social media and tag someone who inspires you from a different generation.
💬 How to Participate: Drop your stories and reflections in the comments. Let’s start the conversation on why these connections matter and inspire more people to engage!
